Oscar Grant III, fatally shot by an unidentified BART(Oakland,CA) officer early New Year’s Day. Oscar Grant was unarmed, laying face down and shot in the back. REPORT: OAKLAND, Calif. – Law enforcement officials urged patience while they investigated details surrounding the fatal New Year’s Day shooting of a 22-year-old man by a transit agency police officer. Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Chief Gary Gee said on Sunday that the agency is “committed to completing an unbiased, thorough and detailed investigation” of the shooting death of Oscar Grant. “This case is not even four days cold. We’re in the early stages of the investigation and we will do a very thorough job,” he said. Several unanswered questions remained after BART officers went to Oakland’s Fruitvale station to investigate reports of a supposed brawl on a train on which Grant was riding around 2 am Thursday. A friend of Grant’s who was with him on the crowded Oakland train station platform at the time of the shooting said Grant pleaded with officers not to harm him. “Oscar yelled, ‘You shot me! I got a four-year-old daughter,’” said Fernando Anicete. “Oscar was telling us to calm down and we did. We weren’t looking for any trouble.” Anicete was among more than 50 people attending a tearful news conference in Oakland on Sunday where Grant’s family announced they planned to file a $25 million claim against the Bay Area Rapid Transit agency this week. A claim is the first step in the process of suing the agency. The family’s attorney John Burris said the shooting was intentional, and that he planned to ask Alameda County prosecutors to seek criminal charges against the officer. Burris said Grant, of Hayward, Calif., posed no threat to officers when a bullet entered his back and ricocheted to his lung area, killing him almost instantly. “The officer leaned (in), was straddling over him and pointed his gun directly into the backside and shot (Grant),” said Burris, adding that Grant was handcuffed – after he was shot. “This was not a deadly force situation.” Gee said BART police are fully cooperating with the district attorney’s investigation. Grant’s mother, Wanda Johnson, and Sophina Mesa, his daughter’s mother, wept uncontrollably as Burris spoke about Grant. They did not speak, but several said Grant, a butcher at a supermarket near the train station where he was killed, was a loving father showing signs of maturation. Cephus “Bobby” Johnson, Grant’s uncle, said he text messaged his nephew just after midnight Thursday saying, “Happy New Year … I love you.” Johnson never got a reply. “I wondered why he didn’t text me back,” a teary-eyed Johnson said. “And then I found out why.” BART spokesman Jim Allison has said the officer’s gun went off while police were trying to restrain Grant and that Grant was not cuffed. The unidentified officer is on paid leave as BART investigates the shooting. Mario Pangelina, Mesa’s brother who was riding on the same train, two cars behind Grant on Thursday morning, said Sunday he saw Grant beg police not to Taser him because of his child. “He kept saying, ‘Please, please don’t Tase me,’” Pangelina said. “He was not acting hostile.” Other witnesses said Grant was lying on his stomach on the station’s platform when he was shot. Recordings of the shooting by witnesses have surfaced and Burris said BART had confiscated numerous <a href="http://www.phonelearner.com/"title="cell phone" >cell phone images from others he believes contain additional footage. Services for Grant will be held Wednesday. www.examiner.com

The Sidekick ID is configured for T-Mobile’s myFaves service that allows you to designate 5 people as your favorites and call them as much as you want without using your minutes – and those five can be landlines or <a href="http://www.phonelearner.com/"title="cell phone" >cell phone numbers on any carrier. Don’t worry – you’re not committed to those 5 for the life of your contract. You can rearrange your 5 favorite people up to once a month.

The Sidekick’s landscape orientation allows concealment of a wide thumb-pad. Sidekick’s keypad is just right for my thumbs, not requiring too much reach. I recall that the original Sidekick’s overall width made typing a little more comfortable, at 4.5 inches from side-to-side, but the iD’s 5.1 inches don’t make Sidekick difficult. Although I won’t say Sidekick’s necessarily better than a Treo keyboard for its width, I’d be willing to bet it looks less intimidating to a novice.

The Sidekick’s interface has gained a few buttons, and has one too many navigator methods. The main navigator, a track ball, is also found on the Sidekick 3. This trackball works great, though. Sidekick’s slight texture improves traction. I’ve been surprised that skin oils haven’t made it difficult to use, or changed its color. It’s a white translucent plastic that allows T Mobile Sidekick iD to glow and change color (slow flashing blue for standby, flashing purple for an incoming call, for example).

Rolling the ball around can navigate in menus and through emails, but mostly only works up and down. One exception is in pull down menus, where a second flyout menu is accessed with a roll to the right.

Easily the most unique and fun part of the Sidekick is the swing-around screen. Press lightly on the upper right or lower left corners and the screen rises out of the keyboard trough, swings around, and snaps back down into the trough, resting at a slight angle toward the user. Sidekick’s not so loud that you get dirty looks in public, but I do recommend keeping it under control when opening it in the nursery. While it seems odd, this method of opening a computing device becomes more natural, and is certainly quicker, than opening a clamshell. Please purchase on online www.luckywirelessusa.com

Everyone that knows a little about the <a href="http://www.phonelearner.com/"title="mobile phone" >mobile phone designer and manufacturer LG knows of their reputation for cutting edge technologically advanced and somewhat expensive phone. If you are one of those people then you will undoubtedly expect a high end mobile to be released every year, but that is not always the case. LG have now decided to look at the lower end of the market to satisfy the technophobe and no frills sections of the population. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the LG KF310.

The LG KF310 is a minimalist’s dream. The dynamic slider features sleek, clean cut lines and a stylish black frame around the screen. However, the keypad underneath and back of the phone is a gorgeous silvery white colour that gives the handset a touch of class in addition to the fashionable appearance. If you prefer plain black phones then there is such a version of the LG KF310 handset so the choice is yours. It is easy to handle as well, with dimensions of 94 x 47 x 17mm, and feels light in the hand at just 95g.

Surprisingly, the LG KF310 has none of the fiddly buttons and extra controls that other LG handsets have had in the future, and this is definitely a good thing if you want a basic phone that can do everything apart from confuse you. The control pad on the screen face is easy to use and incredibly responsive, with the buttons on the keypad being just as responsive but very well spaced. It is perfect for chunky fingers and is easy enough to use no matter what your prior experience with mobile phones.

Delving a little deeper, there are some lovely touches just below the surface of the minimalist LG KF310 handset. Although there are fewer features than you may expect from a handset these days, those that are a part of the phone are accessible and do their jobs well. There is a 2MP camera that takes crisp images, a music player that offers an ability to play most file formats and the connectivity is excellent. With bluetooth, a capable web browser, email client and 3G on board you have plenty of options.

There are some minor niggles with the LG KF310 handset though, although most will only bother those that are used to using high specification phones. For example, the 2MP camera does not have a built in auto focus and can be a little dark at night, although the secondary video calling camera function makes up for that. It can take a while to find out where pictures are stored as well because the menu is a little more difficult to navigate than you would expect given the simplicity of the phone. Finally, there appears to be no audio jack.

Having pointed out the slight niggles, it is important to point out that the LG KF310 is an entry level 3G phone and so should not be expected to jump through hoops. It does have a memory that is expandable with a microSD card and is perfect for someone that wants a no frills phone for the basics of calling, texting, taking pictures and listening to a few tunes. What more could you ask for?

So, you own a Motorola V3 Razor. If you are doing what I did you are searching various websites to find how how to change it to be what YOU want. You are reading things like “seems”, “flashing”, “flexing”. What the heck?

You’re confused, lost, and ready to pay somebody to do this, or give up. But don’t. I am by no means a computer expert or a modding guru but I have figured it out so that means you can to!

Lets talk about modding and or hacking (changing anything from how it came from the manufacturer) Hack? No Im not taking about anything illegal, but the term is used to express the idea. You “hack” into an area of the phone or Ipod the manufacturer didn’t want you to access

Why mod it at all? Well simple. I paid good money for this and if I want my kids picture as my outer LCD picture then by golly I shall have it! lol..Also there are several menu items locked out by certain carriers which I think is bunk anyway but I digress.. The biggest and most common reason for modding is to unlock the phone.

What is unlocking? Simple. Unlocking allows you to take the AT&T sim card out and put in a T mobile Sim card and use the phone. Sim card? you ask..

If you don’t know what a sim card is you should stop now and go bake cookies…lmao..not really, It is the card under the battery usually that only allows you to use the phone on that cards carrier. CDMA phones do not have these. Like Sprint, Verizon. Yes you can still mod but unlocking isnt possible. You can just reactivate with whatever CDMA carrier you want

Back to modding..

You can personalize your phone (change the outer picture, make it louder, use different fonts, change the look of it all, etc). Also, changing the software on the phone can increase your reception, your volume, the menu speed, and much more.

Ok now your hooked. How do I do it you scream!

Slow down Tonto..This is complicated stuff so read read read….I got my 500 dollar V9 and it took me 4 days to change the outer LCD because I do NOT want a 500 dollar paperweight..Do you?

Other basic terms you should know are..

The Flex:

The flex is the files and branding of the phone. It contains all the carrier specific menus and images, like T-Zones for T-Mobile, or whichever graphic branding and text links your carrier puts in the phone.

The Flash:

The flash is the part we change most often. By now we have several types, but basically, the flash is the software of the phone. When you change the flash, it adjusts features, menus, and more. Also, things like the way your phone handles reception or menu speed are handled by flashes. Flashing your phone will not erase any of your media or settings. Then there’s the seem.

The Seem:

The seem is the individual pieces that make up the operating system on the phone. Every individual feature on your phone (SMS on/off, will the call end when you close the flip, can you access the web from your phone, etc) is all editable by changing a seem. More on that in the seem editing section, but basically seems are what you will change when you want to change one feature at a time.

So what should you do?

Go to the downloads page and get all the required files and softwares. Backup. then get connected. For some reason this is the single most pain in the ass thing to do for some reason. It should be easy but it isn’t. I will do my best to get everything you need in this one place to get you going but feel free to post any questions you have in the forums. Go to www.hackitz.com for more info.
